Value for money oil, but it needs relatively frequent changes
I bought it for around €50 from a gas station for 4L and I consider it quite value for money. It protects the engine very well from wear and overall the engine runs smoothly.
The positive thing about the Castrol Magnatec 5W-40 C3 series is that the oil additives actually create a protective film on the metal parts of the engine, especially during cold starts.
The negative thing I noticed is that the oil turns black relatively faster and seems to create black sludge more easily compared to other oils I have tried, such as Shell 5W-40.
I tested it on an Opel Corsa C 1.3 diesel from 2004 without DPF and the engine's operation was very good, without increased oil consumption and with smooth operation.
Personally, I would recommend it for year-round use, but I would change the oil at most every 8,000 km to keep the engine in good condition. I also believe that for cars with DPF, due to the C3 specification (low SAPS), it is a very good and economical choice.
