Description

Description

The Aberfeldy 12 Years Old, named after the village of Aberfeldy in the Scottish Highlands, is a representative single malt with a golden color.

It has characteristic honey notes, rich heather aromas, notes of sweet pineapple, cereals, and vanilla. It is a refined, limited edition malt, ideally enjoyed neat or with a little water to better highlight its aromas.

Why Aberfeldy 12 is a golden choice for your collection:

  • The Water of Gold: It is the only distillery that draws water from the Pitilie Burn springs, known for their natural gold deposits. This purity is reflected in the crystal-clear and "bright" character of the spirit.
  • The Art of Slow Distillation: Aberfeldy is patiently distilled in tall copper stills, a process that gives it its characteristic creamy texture and intense honey notes.
  • Multidimensional Maturation: Its 12-year aging in a combination of Bourbon, Sherry, and re-charred oak casks creates a "marriage" of flavors where vanilla, spices, and fruits coexist in perfect harmony.
  • The Ideal "Ambassador": Thanks to its mild and sweet character, it is the perfect whisky to introduce someone to the world of Single Malts, while remaining a favorite "dram" for experienced collectors.

Your Flavorful Journey:

  • Nose: Rich and warm. Thyme honey, vanilla, and fresh fruits (apple, pear) dominate, with a very subtle hint of smoke in the background.
  • Palate: Velvety sensation. Flavors of raisin, butterscotch, and malt, "embraced" by sweet spices.
  • Finish: Medium length, smooth and sweet, leaving an elegant aftertaste of wood and honey.

  • I have visited this particular distillery in the village of the same name, truly an amazing experience as a place, you see how these malts are traditionally made in the same way for hundreds of years. After many tastings we did there, I think it is the most value for money of the brand.

  • A nice whiskey and balanced in all aspects. I would say it is smooth on the nose and in taste, with a corresponding aftertaste. I consider its price to be good in relation to what you get. I didn't give it 5 stars because it didn't offer me anything to include it among the best I've had. It is worth it for our collection, though...

If you are looking for a very good malt whisky at a relatively affordable price, you should end up here. Sweet and peppery as it should be, with notes of barley and honey. It would be good to add a few drops of water just before you taste it.
