The game combines action and RPG elements with the Style Shift battle system, which lets you switch between Artes and Burst styles. It also includes the Lineage and Legacies story, which continues after the main scenario.

During battles, you can choose the power, range and size of your attacks, as well as your distance from enemies. The game also features more than 100 equippable titles, which level up through battles and unlock skills and techniques that boost your stats. Quality-of-life features include autosave, various jump options and the ability to disable enemy encounters in fields and dungeons.
