It takes one AA battery that lasts a long time. The two side buttons are located exactly where they should be for immediate access without moving the palm or thumb to look for them. It also has the - absolutely necessary for me - wheel tilt, which means two more programmable buttons. If I were pressed to find something negative, I would say that its wheel is somewhat soft and provides a bit less scrolling feedback, but these are minor issues. Overall, a wonderful experience. So why 4 stars? Because of reservations about reliability. If I notice anything, I will update
