For its price, it is one of the best available in Greece and it is not solera like most on the market (I hope they will keep the tradition). It is recommended for moderate and above average drinkers. Also, before you try it, let it "breathe" for about 15-20 minutes (until then, enjoy the aroma in a tulip glass and ideally neat) because it has a lot of alcohol and it covers its rich flavor. It does not market based on alcohol content (so that it is softer and cheaper for companies) like most solera which have about 28%-35% and not 40% as stated on the bottles. Two versions have been released, the new one I consider to be slightly more balanced although usually the opposite happens. Its characteristics: Balanced with a gentle natural sweetness (the new version does not contain any sugar), wonderful aroma, full-bodied (you can feel its density), round but with a noticeable hint of bourbon and maybe a little bit of cognac, taste of honey, roasted tropical fruits, raisins, coffee, and spices. I would compare it somewhat to Plantation XO 20th, but I find El Dorado more interesting with intensity and a fuller body (although not as smooth), slightly less sweet (the old version was sweeter), spicier, and with a more intoxicating and intense aroma. Perhaps the best for this price range! Of course, for beginners and most people, between these two, I would recommend Plantation XO, it is easier to enjoy.

Although on the producer's website it appears with 40% vol, the bottle I purchased had 43% vol and comes in a black box. This happens because the company has renewed both the composition and the appearance of the drink, keeping only the bottle of amazing appearance the same.
Opening with aromas of honey and dark chocolate accompanied by caramel and a hint of coconut. In taste, the presence of honey and spices is noticeable with a slight tingling on the tongue. The aftertaste lasts a long time with a light burning sensation from the alcohol in the throat. The balance and delicacy of El Dorado 15 are impressive, while it cannot be compared to the 12-year-old which appears rougher and "harsher".
Although classified as a sweet rum (Diplomatico is sweeter), its sweetness becomes more perceptible after several sips and becomes easier to perceive if preceded by a sip of beer.

Επίγευση που διαρκεί πολύ και ελαφρύ κάψιμο από το αλκοόλ στο λαιμό. Είναι εντυπωσιακή η ισορροπία και η λεπτότητα του El Dorado 15 ενώ δεν μπορεί να γίνει σύγκριση με το 12άρι που εμφανίζεται πιο τραχύ και “σκληρό”.
Αν και κατατάσσεται στα γλυκά ρούμια (το Diplomatico είναι πιο γλυκό) η γλύκα του εμφανίζεται μετά από αρκετές γουλιές και γίνεται πιο εύκολα αντιληπτή αν προηγηθεί μια γουλιά μπύρα.

The king so far in my tasting journey. Sophisticated with an amazing aftertaste. Serious, you can feel the alcohol but it shows you its power through a plethora of aromas. It's not for everyday and it requires a certain mood, I will contemplate life now with a good cigar (I don't smoke :D). To understand its quality, I drink it occasionally before or after Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva and I think Diplomatico is a liqueur. It has this incredible balance between sweet and serious like an expensive cognac. Treat your palate and give it a try. The aftertaste lasts a long time with a light burning sensation from the alcohol in the throat. The balance and delicacy of El Dorado 15 are impressive, while it cannot be compared to the 12-year-old which appears rougher and "harsher".
Although classified as a sweet rum (Diplomatico is sweeter), its sweetness becomes more perceptible after several sips and becomes easier to perceive if preceded by a sip of beer.
Absolutely a sipping rum that fills the mouth with its rich flavor. It is very delicate, refined, and well-crafted after 15 years of aging, easily reaching the top among rums along with Plantation 20th Anniversary rum.

Άνοιγμα με αρώματα μελιού και μαύρης σοκολάτας συνοδευόμενα από καραμέλα και υποψία καρύδας. Στη γεύση κάνει αισθητή την παρουσία του το μέλι και τα μπαχαρικά με ένα ελαφρύ μούδιασμα στην γλώσσα. Επίγευση που διαρκεί πολύ και ελαφρύ κάψιμο από το αλκοόλ στο λαιμό. Είναι εντυπωσιακή η ισορροπία και η λεπτότητα του El Dorado 15 ενώ δεν μπορεί να γίνει σύγκριση με το 12άρι που εμφανίζεται πιο τραχύ και “σκληρό”.
Αν και κατατάσσεται στα γλυκά ρούμια (το Diplomatico είναι πιο γλυκό) η γλύκα του εμφανίζεται μετά από αρκετές γουλιές και γίνεται πιο εύκολα αντιληπτή αν προηγηθεί μια γουλιά μπύρα.
Απολύτως sipping ρούμι γεμίζει το στόμα με την πλούσια γεύση του. Είναι πολύ λεπτό, φίνο και καλοδουλεμένο μετά από 15 χρόνια παλαίωσης, αγγίζει εύκολα την κορυφή στα ρούμια μαζί με το Plantation 20th Anniversary rum.
Amazing rum. Aroma, flavor, long aftertaste. Pure sipping. It is much smoother and well-rounded than the 12-year-old. Also, it goes well with ice, unlike Zacapa, for example, which dilutes it. Try it!!!!

This particular rum is, for me, the best I have tried so far, speaking always about aged rums. If you like Diplomatico Reserva, this one will surprise you with its taste. It is worth its money and maybe even more.
Το συγκεκριμένο ρούμι είναι για μένα το καλύτερο που έχω δοκιμάσει μέχρι τώρα, μιλώντας πάντα για παλαιωμένα ρούμια. Αν σας αρέσει το diplomatico reserva αυτό θα σας εκπλήξει με την γεύση του. Αξίζει τα λεφτά του και ίσως πολύ παραπάνω.

The king so far in my tasting journey. Sophisticated with an amazing aftertaste. Serious, you can feel the alcohol but it shows you its power through a plethora of aromas. It's not for everyday and it requires a certain mood, I will contemplate life now with a good cigar (I don't smoke :D). To understand its quality, I drink it occasionally before or after Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva and I think Diplomatico is a liqueur. It has this incredible balance between sweet and serious like an expensive cognac. Treat your palate and give it a try. For its price, it is one of the best available in Greece and it is not solera like most on the market (I hope they will keep the tradition). It is recommended for moderate and above average drinkers. Also, before you try it, let it "breathe" for about 15-20 minutes (until then, enjoy the aroma in a tulip glass and ideally neat) because it has a lot of alcohol and it covers its rich flavor. It does not market based on alcohol content (so that it is softer and cheaper for companies) like most solera which have about 28%-35% and not 40% as stated on the bottles. Two versions have been released, the new one I consider to be slightly more balanced although usually the opposite happens. Its characteristics: Balanced with a gentle natural sweetness (the new version does not contain any sugar), wonderful aroma, full-bodied (you can feel its density), round but with a noticeable hint of bourbon and maybe a little bit of cognac, taste of honey, roasted tropical fruits, raisins, coffee, and spices. I would compare it somewhat to Plantation XO 20th, but I find El Dorado more interesting with intensity and a fuller body (although not as smooth), slightly less sweet (the old version was sweeter), spicier, and with a more intoxicating and intense aroma. Perhaps the best for this price range! Of course, for beginners and most people, between these two, I would recommend Plantation XO, it is easier to enjoy.
Για τα χρήματά του είναι ένα από τα καλύτερα που κυκλοφορούν στην Ελλάδα και δεν είναι solera όπως τα περισσότερα της αγοράς (ελπίζω να κρατήσουν την παράδοση), συνίσταται για μέτρια προχορημένους και πάνω, επίσης πριν το δοκιμάσετε να το αφήσετε να "ανασάνει" περίπου 15-20 λεπτά (μέχρι τότε απολαμβάνετε το άρωμα σε ποτύρι φούσκα και ιδανικά σκέτο) διότι έχει πολύ αλκόλ & καλύπτει την πλούσια γεύση του. Δεν κάνει marketing βάση των τεστ στην ποσότητα αλκολ (ώστε να είναι πιο "μαλακό-ευκολόπιοτο" και να κοστίζει λιγότερο στις εταιρίες) όπως των περισσότερων solera που έχουν 28%-35% περίπου και όχι 40% που αναγράφονται στα μπουκάλια. Έχουν βγεί δύο εκδόσεις, η καινούρια θεωρώ είναι λίγο πιο ισορροπημένη αν και συνήθως συμβαίνει το αντίθετο. Τα χαρακτηρηστικά του: Ισορροπημένο με απαλή φυσική γλυκύτητα (δεν περιέχει καθόλου ζάχαρη η καινούρια έκδοση), υπέροχο άρωμα, γεμάτο σώμα (νιώθεις ποικνότητά του), στρογγυλή αλλά αισθητή δρυς bourbon ίσως και λίγο από cognac, επίγευση από μέλι, ψημένα τροπικά φρούτα, σταφίδες, καφές και μπαχάρια. Θα το σύγκρηνα κάπως με το Plantation XO 20th όμως το El Dorado το θεωρώ πιο ενδιαφέρον με ένταση και πιο γεμάτο σώμα (όχι όμως τόσο απαλό), ελαφρώς λιγότερο γλυκό (η παλιά έκδοση ήταν πιο γλυκιά), πιο πικάντικο και άρωμα περισσότερο μεθυστικό & έντονο. Ίσως το καλύτερο σε αυτά τα χρήματα! Βέβαια για τους αρχάριους και τον περοσσότερο κόσμο ανάμεσα σε αυτά τα δύο θα πρότεινα το Plantation XO, είναι πιο εύκολο να το χαρείς...
