The Black Diamond Apex mountaineering gaiters cover the full height of the calf and are made from waterproof, breathable three-layer GORE-TEX with taped seams. They are suitable for activities in cold, wet weather, such as ice climbing, mountaineering and skiing. Their reinforced abrasion protection stands up to wear from crampons and ski edges.

The front closure uses hook-and-loop fastening, while the adjustable strap with a buckle at the top provides a secure fit. The underfoot strap is made of nylon with a neoprene coating.
