The VCX-L2-BC surge protection units of category T1 T2 are designed to protect low voltage installations from the effects of induced and switching surges. They should be used as both the first and second level of protection in multi-family buildings and distribution sub-panels.
The protectors should be installed at points where electrical installations enter the building. They provide full protection for the electrical installation and the electrical devices powered by it from lightning currents and other types of surges. They reduce surges and direct surge currents to ground for both types of surges - direct and indirect. They offer a two-level protection system.
The use of VCX-B + C protection units of category T1 T2 does not require the use of isolating coils. They ensure effective protection for computers, RTV/home appliances, etc. They feature a visual operation indicator (green - protected, red - unprotected). They have built-in thermal protection - no additional thermal protection is required (although it is always recommended).
Technical specifications:
- The core of the protector is a varistor element, whose resistance mainly depends on the voltage at its terminals.
- Protection category: B + C (T1 T2)
- Design: varistor
- Required protection: 32A
- Maximum connections: 35mm²
- Maximum operating voltage: Uc 275 V AC
- Test current: In (8/20) 20 kA
- Maximum current: Imax (8/20) 50 kA
- Pulse current: Iimp (10/350) 7kA
- Protection level at voltage: up to <1.5 kV
- Storage temperature: -30 / + 70 °C
- Operating ambient temperature: -30 / + 50 °C
- Protection degree: IP 20
- Auxiliary contact: yes
Types/categories of surge protectors require a vertical combination, meaning that it operates in multiple stages. For this reason, a three-stage surge protection system is used for electrical installations.
All types of protectors must be connected in series (cascade); otherwise, all surge protection will be ineffective.
