After the unsuccessful Wii U, which I owned, I skipped getting the 1st generation and went straight for the 2. I have owned it since its release and my experience has been positive. I’ll say it right away: it’s an expensive console, and I want to make that clear. Right or wrong, that’s how things are, everything is overpriced nowadays. In my opinion, the games are prohibitively priced at 80 and 90€.
Design: Very high-quality and sturdy console. They have paid attention to the details and all the plastics. Nothing creaks anymore and you feel like you’re holding something valuable. I won’t go on for long, it’s a console as it should have been from the 1st generation. I want to say that connecting the controllers is very enjoyable and addictive. It works flawlessly.
Screen: Let me be clear. For the price, it should have had OLED. - Do I want it? - No. - Should it have had it? - Yes.
Otherwise, it’s a very high-quality, clear screen with nice colors, sufficient brightness, and satisfactory blacks. The higher Hz are welcome and enjoyable.
Performance: I’m not an expert. I got the console for Nintendo’s games. I know they run flawlessly, without any issues or problems. It’s a powerful console, considering it’s portable. On the dock, since it outputs 4K, it fully satisfies me. That’s it, I won’t elaborate further.
Battery: I don’t have much experience, since most of the time (90%) I play connected to the TV, but as much as I’ve tried it, it’s not satisfactory. With a demanding game, you get about 2 hours of gameplay. At least it charges quickly. Since it’s called portable, it definitely should have had a better battery.
Games - Other: Last category. If we consider the huge library that the 1st has, it has games. But if you think about having to constantly pay for upgrades for slightly better graphics, I don’t agree here. As a game library, the 2 doesn’t have many. In my opinion, more should have been released by now as I write this review. It has some great games that I’ve loved and played (see Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong, Metroid), but I would like more, obviously at lower prices, as I mentioned at the beginning.
Overall, for a small child whose parent is considering buying it as a gift, it’s not worth it, it’s an expensive console. Get the 1. But for someone who wants to continue and is a fan of Nintendo and its games like me, of course, it’s worth it. I hope I helped and didn’t confuse you. All the best!

The upgrade from the first one is crazy, yes it may not be as powerful as a PS5 for about the same price but with the optimization Nintendo does on its games it's not a problem at all.
Speaking of Nintendo, it has some amazing games, Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, Hyrule Warriors, Kirby Airriders, all in the first year of the console, along with upgrades and DLC for old Switch 1 games.
You can't say much about the console, it's just MUCH better than the first. It has a beautiful screen with HDR, 4k or 120fps in a Nintendo game for the first time, all Switch 1 games are playable upgraded for free, for example games that might have lagged on Switch 1 have no problem on 2, even if there isn't a specific "Switch 2 edition" that costs money or a free patch.
The new mouse mode for the Joy Cons 2 is very good, it's something you have to try to understand, same thing with the Joy Cons themselves, the HD Rumble 2 they have is also very good and it shows clearly in the Switch 2 Welcome Tour they sell for €10 on the eshop.

An excellent console, which is now powerful enough to play even games like *Cyberpunk 2077*. It is suitable for both adults and children.

You have all the Switch 1 games to play. You can also play Switch 2 games, which, at least for now, are not many. They are few, but nevertheless, it is an excellent choice because you can take it everywhere with you.

From the market that has been created due to the Switch, which is the PC handhelds, it is the best choice in terms of what it offers you considering that it is both portable and a "traditional" console that you can play on the TV.

The quality of the games, as well as the build quality of the console itself, compared to the money you pay, if you find it on some offer, your purchase will be even better.

On the negative side are the Joy Cons, which, due to their size and the need to be quite thin to maintain the slim profile of the console, present problems. The buttons are still very sharp for the fingers and have no depth, as they are "clicky-clicky" buttons. Plus, even this time, in 2025, the analog stick is still potentiometer-based, which means it is very likely, over the years you use it, to develop drift. This has happened with all controllers that have potentiometers, like the previous Switch, PlayStation controllers, and Xbox controllers, because they do not have hall effect or other much better and superior technology, which is now very renowned. Unfortunately, no company uses it, because they all have corporate greed in mind

Is it worth getting the new Nintendo console?
The new Nintendo console, otherwise known as the Nintendo Switch 2, is a much better and updated version compared to the previous Nintendo console, the Nintendo Switch, which was released in March 2017 and represents the future of Nintendo.
The highly promising Nintendo console, the Nintendo Switch 2, offers new features such as Gamechat and the option to use the new Joy-Cons 2 as a computer mouse (note: Joy-Cons 2 can be used as a computer mouse only on the console itself, not on a regular computer). It also offers better performance, such as higher resolutions, better graphics in certain titles, higher frame rates, and generally faster performance of the main unit.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is powered by Nvidia's System on Chip, the so-called Tegra T239, which delivers 1.71 Teraflops when handheld and 3.07 Teraflops when docked to the TV. The Nintendo Switch 2 comes with 256GB of storage and 12GB of memory, which alone promises stunning graphics and amazing performance for a handheld device.
The Nintendo Switch 2 was released with a very strong game, Mario Kart World, and a little later Donkey Kong Bananza was released, which received very good reviews from many fans. A few months later, Pokemon Legends Z-A and Metroid Prime 4 were released, both of which you can also play on the Nintendo Switch 1.
However, the Nintendo Switch 2 does not only have positives; there are also some negatives that have made me regret buying this console. One negative is that not many games have been released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, though this may change over time. Another negative is that the performance of this console is not as good compared to other devices at this price point. Also, the Nintendo Switch 2 seems like a very fragile console to me, at least with my personal use. One problem that proves my point is that recently, while I was playing, my left Joy-Con 2 fell off the couch and the stick started drifting down and to the right continuously, something that has not stopped to this day, which makes me doubt the quality of the console and its long-term use.
So, is the Nintendo Switch 2 worth it?
The answer is no, at least for now. I believe that a price drop for the console and its games, as well as the release of new titles exclusively for the new console, will fix these specific problems with the console.

As an owner of the Nintendo Switch 1 for 3 years, I dare say this is a huge upgrade!! I love it!! Guys, don’t listen to the haters, they’re usually people who never owned the first Switch. And unfortunately, we live in an era where we hate and bash anything we don’t like or don’t have. Anyway, to cut a long story short, it’s not something to compare with PlayStation... or Xbox... And generally, forget the console wars... Let’s enjoy our lives and enjoy gaming—every console has its good points. Nintendo is in a different category. With its own unique beloved exclusives. I can say it’s the perfect family console and not just that. The screen is wonderful for playing your games anywhere, it features HDR technology that, depending on the game, goes up to 120hz. Beautiful as a console and quality construction. The only downside is the battery but that’s absolutely reasonable... With such a large screen and demanding games.
Buy it with your eyes closed!!!! Especially if you had the first one. As for the price, it’s a bit steep but that’s the times we live in... Unfortunately, everything is expensive nowadays.

Nintendo simply takes advantage of (and rightly so for its own benefit) game titles that already have a stable and loyal audience.

The console has a very short battery life and its screen is inferior. These two features are, of course, the ones that Nintendo intends to upgrade with the upcoming Switch 2 OLED – or whatever it ends up being called. You can also tell this from the screen bezels, which are expected to disappear, as happened with the first OLED model.

Regarding upgrades in Hz and resolution, some important points:

In dock mode, when you have a 4K setting, you can reach up to 60Hz.

No game supports 4K resolution or more than 60Hz, even if you have a TV that supports it (even titles that have received patches, such as Zelda, Pokémon Scarlet, etc.).

If you visit Nintendo's page and simply change country, e.g. to Italy, you can get it at Nintendo's regular prices and not at the excessive prices in Greece. It arrives in 2-3 working days. The only thing you need to be careful about is ordering from a country with the same type of plugs, so you don't need an adapter.

The console is quite a bit heavier, which – combined with the lower quality screen compared to the OLED – dramatically reduces the handheld gaming experience.

On the positive side, the truth is they did good marketing.

For those who have already decided to buy it:
Yes, it is clearly an upgrade compared to the previous Switch models. It is more powerful, larger, with a better screen. Perhaps the OLED panel has more vibrant colors and better power efficiency, but even so, the Switch 2’s screen is very respectable and satisfying.

For those who are undecided, the main questions you should ask yourselves, in my opinion, are:

Do you have an older Switch and is it your main console?
Then yes, the purchase is a no-brainer. The new console is more powerful and can run more demanding games beyond Nintendo’s exclusives — not to the level of a Steam Deck or ROG Ally, but it definitely won’t disappoint.

Do you use the Switch as a secondary console?
If you are coming from the first generation or Lite model and mostly play Nintendo exclusives, there is an issue: for now it only has 3 new games out — Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong, and Splatoon.
If you are a Mario Kart fan and can’t live without it, then the upgrade is worth it. Otherwise, even newer games like Metroid will be released for both the new and the old Switch.

Do you already have an OLED model?
The upgrade is not that big. The bump in resolution is not impressive. However, if you have a 4K TV and often play in docked mode, then the games look sharper, run more smoothly, and don’t have the artifacts we saw on the previous model. In that case, it might be worth it.

In conclusion:
I believe patience is a virtue — if more games are released and if the price settles over time. The console is powerful, loading times have been noticeably reduced, and the games (especially Mario Kart) run excellently.
The biggest “sticking point” remains the high price of the console and the games.

I’m coming back after a year of owning the console and I’ve truly fallen in love with it.
I mainly use it to play my indie games and, of course, the exclusives.
It has received some important updates, but the most important thing for me is that now any game that doesn’t have a Switch 2 edition can run handheld at 1080p without having to suffer through 720p.
For me, the issue of the lack of exclusives remains, of course; but for those of you who will buy it as your main console, Nintendo has released quite a few ports that are fantastic and continues to expand its library, so there are plenty of games for you.
Finally, I left the price and performance part for last. Yes, the console’s price is a bit steep, but guys, it is the cheapest handheld right now. Comparing the performance with the Steam Deck, Nvidia has worked wonders with DLSS and quite a few games look much sharper on the Switch 2, sometimes even sharper than on the ROG Ally X, with the only downside being that the frame rate is of course locked at 30 in quite a few AAA games, while on other handhelds you can tweak the settings for higher frame rates.
I’m still waiting for more games from Nintendo... Right now it is the most value-for-money handheld, with the Steam Deck reaching 700+ for the cheapest version.

Incredible console, very premium build quality and so far I am very satisfied! Personally, I see no disadvantage with the screen and its resolution is amazing (contrary to those who say it should be OLED), in fact, OLED screens apart from the slightly better energy saving and deeper blacks, only harm the eyes with the flickering they have (look up research on OLED screen flickering and PWM)!

Now regarding performance, the Switch 2 is blazing fast, and although I haven't tried it yet with all the games I had, in those I did try, loading screens and FPS are night and day compared to previous Switch models!

Finally, about the price, I will say that it is indeed more expensive compared to prices in other countries but I won't lower stars because I believe it's not Nintendo's fault but the country's! The price in general, although a bit high, couldn't be otherwise because all competing consoles of the same generation are in this price range!

P.S. The only negative I find because I got the version with Mario Kart, is that they could have included the game cartridge instead of being stingy and giving those leaflets for digital download...
