Description

With beautiful illustrations by Freya Betts, this softcover edition features beautifully colored edges with stencil illustrations. It is a stunning collectible piece, perfect for old fans or new readers of The Hunger Games. The first book of the revolutionary Hunger Games trilogy.

"I was so obsessed with this book... The Hunger Games is amazing." Stephenie Meyer, author of the Twilight series. "I couldn't stop reading." Stephen King, Entertainment Weekly.

There is only one rule: kill or be killed. Set in a dark visionary version of the near future, a terrifying reality TV show takes place.

Twelve boys and twelve girls are forced to participate in a live event called The Hunger Games. When sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen steps forward to take her younger sister's place in the games, she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before.

For her, survival is second nature. All four Hunger Games books have been turned into movies, with the first three starring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks, and Donald Sutherland. The fourth movie, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, was released in November 2023 and features an amazing cast, including Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Viola Davis, and Peter Dinklage.

ABOUT THE COVERS To celebrate the release of the movie Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Freya Betts has taken the four iconic logos and added a contemporary appreciation. Freya is a UK-based illustrator focusing on hybrid portraits, primarily in the method of digital painting. She has mainly worked in the film industry - her journey began with an apprenticeship at the age of 18, working on film campaigns for Universal and Paramount in London.

She now designs movie posters for Disney and Marvel, with her work appearing everywhere from giant murals in New York to t-shirts at H&M. Clients include: Disney, Netflix, Marvel, Apple TV, Uber, Royal Mail, The LA Times.

  • The Hunger Games is one of those timeless books that no matter what you say, you can't describe it adequately. We may have read it, seen it, talked about it dozens of times, but the truth is one: it is shocking. It speaks about social oppression, manipulation, about how power uses fear and violence to keep the masses obedient. And all of this is conveyed through the eyes of a 16-year-old girl who only wanted to protect her sister.

Katniss is a heroine you won't forget. She is not perfect, she is not always sure of what she is doing – but she is real. The first book in the series has so much intensity, so much emotional charge, that even if you know what will happen, you can't stop reading it.

And now, the Deluxe Edition? It is simply beautiful. It has a stunning cover, the edges of the pages are painted with special designs (truly impressive in its physical form!) and it is perfect for collection. If you haven't read the book yet, this is the perfect excuse. And if you already have it, it's worth reading it again this way – with a more "festive" version.

I say this with certainty: it is one of those books that you must have in your library.
