Fonseca LBV, unlike Vintage Port, which is bottled only after two years in wood, is bottled after four to six years and is ready for consumption when bottled. The wines used to produce Fonseca LBV come from a reserve of some of the finest red wines produced in a particular vintage, from grapes grown in the vineyards of Fonseca and other top properties in the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior regions.
LBV Unfiltered is aged in large wooden vats and then bottled without fining or filtering. The result is a naturally expressive wine that has not sacrificed any of its depth and fullness of flavor. The Late Bottled Vintage is bottled when it is ready for consumption.
