Description & Specifications

The Ibanez RGMS7PB Cosmic Blue Starburst is a seven-string, double-cutaway solid-body electric guitar designed around a multi-scale architecture. The instrument’s body is made from solid nyatoh and features a stunning poplar burl top with a glossy Cosmic Blue Starburst finish. It is equipped with a five-piece maple/walnut bolt-on neck in the fast Wizard III-7 Multi-Scale profile, paired with a 15.75-inch-radius jatoba fretboard and 24 fanned frets. The electronics include two angled passive Array 7 MS humbuckers with ceramic magnets and a 5-way selector for versatile coil configurations. The hardware is completed by independent, one-piece Mono-rail bridge saddles and sealed die-cast Ibanez tuning machines.

Nyatoh Body & Poplar Burl Top Construction

The body combines solid Nyatoh for the back with a carefully selected Poplar Burl top. Nyatoh offers a rich acoustic response with plenty of volume in the low-mid frequencies, providing the solid fundamental tone needed for the low seventh string (Low B). The Poplar Burl top enhances tonal clarity and attack, while the glossy Cosmic Blue Starburst finish highlights the burl’s natural irregularities and patterns. Ergonomic belly cuts, deep horn carves, and a specially contoured All-Access Neck Joint ensure balanced weight distribution and completely unrestricted access to the upper frets.

Wizard III-7 Neck, 5-Piece Construction & Multi-Scale Geometry

The neck is constructed from five parallel strips of maple and walnut (5-Piece Maple/Walnut), a multilayer method that maximizes structural rigidity and prevents warping under the high tension of seven strings. It is shaped to the Wizard III-7 Multi-Scale profile, measuring 19 mm thick at the 1st fret and 21 mm at the 12th fret. The multi-scale geometry ranges from 25.5" (648 mm) on the first (E) string to 27.0" (686 mm) on the seventh (B) string. This design maintains optimal string tension and clear articulation in the bass register without slack, while making bends easier on the high strings.

Electronics Array-7 MS & Mono-Rail Bridge

The electrical circuit features two specially designed passive Array-7 MS humbuckers with ceramic magnets, angled to follow the fretboard radius. The pickups deliver high output, a tight low-frequency response, and clear treble under high-gain conditions. The 5-way selector offers full humbucker operation (positions 1 and 5), an inner-coil combination (position 2), both humbuckers engaged simultaneously (position 3), and parallel coil wiring on the neck pickup (position 4). The mounting system is based on the Mono-rail Bridge, where each string rests on an independent saddle and passes through the body (String-Thru), fully isolating string vibrations from one another and ensuring maximum natural sustain.
