The cultivation of the orange tree thrives in medium-textured soils, sandy clay or clay sandy, fertile, deep, with low calcium content and good drainage. It prefers sunny and warm areas to prosper and produce quality fruits. Strong winds, especially cold northerlies, hail, and snow cause a reduction in growth and production, as well as a degradation in the quality of the orange fruits. Frequent watering is needed to ensure adequate soil moisture in the root system. Especially during the hot summer months, regular watering every 2-3 days is required, while in spring and autumn, once a week is sufficient.
