Herbs: Malotira (Sideritis spp.)

40 g package containing the aerial parts of the plant. Other names: Malotira, Sideritis & Kalokimithia.

History and origin: Malotira is a wild Mediterranean plant, widely known in Crete and the mountains of Greece. Its name comes from the ancient word "sideros," as it was believed to have properties against wounds caused by iron weapons. Traditionally used to prepare infusions, it is considered a symbol of health and longevity.

Properties:

• Rich in iron, contributes to the improvement of hematopoietic function.
• Antioxidant properties that help protect against oxidative stress.
• Antimicrobial action, effective against bacteria causing respiratory infections.
• Anti-inflammatory action that helps reduce cough and relieve respiratory problems.

Usage: 1 tablespoon of cut malotira is steeped with 1 glass of boiling water in a covered container, left for 10-15 minutes, and strained before use. Ideal for both vegetarians and vegans.
