Soutzoukloukoum is a traditional sweet produced in Komotini. It follows a secret recipe that gives it a soft and tender texture, sweet taste, and pleasant aroma. It includes walnuts and a coconut coating.

The preparation process has ritualistic characteristics:

• Whole walnuts are threaded onto a string one by one.
• The mixture is ground with water and sugar.
• The strings with the walnuts are dipped into a cauldron and hung on columns to let the mixture set.
• The caramelized, amber color of the loukoum decorates the coconut.

Finally, the elongated loukoumia are sprinkled with coconut one by one.
