Hinnonmaki Grun gooseberry is a deciduous shrub that blooms in spring and bears fruit in summer. It produces yellow-green fruit and is self-fertile, so one shrub is enough to produce fruit. This variety is resistant to weather conditions and many diseases.
It grows in a sunny position, but needs partial shade on very hot summer days. Prune from late winter to early spring, when the buds begin to open. To encourage growth, add manure to the soil and apply nitrogen and potassium fertiliser. A net can protect the fruit from birds.
