Black cumin is an annual plant of the Ranunculaceae family, growing in warmer climates in Europe, North Africa, and Southwest Asia. Its seeds contain triglycerides, proteins, volatile oils, Omega 3 and 6, as well as essential fatty acids, and are used in gastronomy for seasoning a variety of dishes and for their therapeutic properties.
