Description

Description

The ZWO AM3 equatorial mount is a portable solution for astrophotography. Weighing less than 4 kilograms, it can support telescopes up to 8 kilograms without the need for counterweights. Using a counterweight and counterweight bar (not included), the mount supports telescopes weighing up to 13 kilograms.

Features and easy operation: The AM3 operates in either equatorial or altazimuth mode. The equatorial mode is suitable for astrophotography and requires precise alignment with the celestial pole. For visual observation, the altazimuth mode is sufficient. The mount is ready to use in a few minutes and has a status indicator: red for equatorial and green for altazimuth mode.

No counterweights required: Unlike other German equatorial mounts, the AM3 does not require counterweights for telescopes up to 8 kilograms, making it lighter and more compact. Counterweights are recommended only for heavier telescopes to maintain balance.

Smooth tracking: Each AM3 is tested and calibrated before delivery, ensuring a periodic error ("PE") of less than +/-20 seconds per revolution. The mount features an ST-4 guiding interface and can electronically reduce PE via software.

Cable management via WiFi: All functions are controlled through a smartphone, compatible with ZWO's ASIAir for app control. The mount can also operate independently via a wireless handheld controller.

New features:

  • Improved cable management with additional power connections and a USB Type-C port.
  • Ability to adjust azimuth with less effort thanks to a tool-friendly opening.
  • Magnetic key storage holder.
  • Lightweight increase from 3.9 kg to 4.1 kg.
  • Enhanced power consumption for greater load stability.
  • Expanded operating temperature range from -20°C to 50°C.
