The Shelly Wave Motion EU LR motion sensor detects movement with a PIR sensor and measures ambient brightness using a built-in light sensor. It connects wirelessly via Z-Wave and supports Long Range mode with a range of up to 80 m for direct communication with the hub. Movement and lighting conditions can trigger automations, such as turning on the lights when motion is detected in a dark room.

It supports the Z-Wave S2 security protocol with AES128 encryption, as well as automatic SmartStart pairing via QR code and wireless firmware updates through a compatible hub. It is powered by a CR2477 battery, with a battery life of up to 2–3 years depending on usage, and can be mounted on a wall or ceiling using adhesive tape.
