Campden tablets help remove the taste or odors of chlorine / TCP before brewing beer or wine.
- Dosage: Half a tablet per 25 liters is recommended. For stronger odors, use a full tablet.
- Usage procedure: It is recommended to crush and stir the tablet and let it sit in water for 24 hours in a sealed container. Adding yeast before this period will prevent the fermentation process.
- Uses: Campden tablets are used in winemaking to prevent oxidation and inhibit the growth of bacteria and wild yeast.
- When dissolved in water, they release sulfur dioxide which preserves the quality and purity of the wine.
- They can also be used as an antioxidant during the transfer of wine between containers.
Do not use Campden tablets for sterilization.
