In 1999, creator George Lucas began the story of how Anakin Skywalker grew up to train as a Jedi under Obi-Wan Kenobi, fell in love with Queen Amidala of Naboo, and eventually turned to the dark side of his nature, becoming more machine than man.

After pioneering the development of early digital technology, George Lucas envisioned creating new creatures and worlds on a larger scale than ever before. He produced the first digital blockbuster and faced strong resistance when advocating for widespread use of digital cameras, sets, characters, and projection — technologies that are now industry standards. He essentially pioneered modern filmmaking techniques.
