Cranberries are a popular superfood that belongs to the category Nuts & Dried Fruits. The cranberry got its name from Dutch and German settlers, who called it "crane berry." When the vines bloom in late spring, the light pink petals of the flowers curl backwards, resembling the head and beak of a crane. Over time, the name was shortened to cranberry.
