The DrayTek Vigor 2928 is a powerful and versatile Dual-WAN router designed to be the core of a modern business network, offering unmatched stability and advanced security features. With support for two simultaneous Gigabit WAN connections for Load Balancing and Failover functions, as well as a comprehensive Firewall and high-performance VPN capabilities, it is primarily aimed at small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) that require uninterrupted internet access, professionals managing sensitive data who need strong encryption, and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) seeking a reliable solution for centralized management of multiple remote sites.

The hardware interface of the Vigor2928 router includes multiple options with 10GbE and 2.5GbE ports. Specifically, it features 1 x configurable GbE WAN/LAN port, 1 x 10Gbps SFP+ WAN port, 1 x configurable 10GbE WAN/LAN port, 1 x 10Gbps SFP+ LAN port, 1 x 2.5GbE LAN port, and 3 x GbE LAN ports. Additionally, there are 2 USB 2.0 ports and a factory reset button. Of the 3 x 10G combo ports (P2, P3 & P4), only 2 can be active simultaneously, with the third remaining inactive when the other two are in operation.

This router features the new DrayOS 5 operating system from DrayTek, which is Zero Trust ready and incorporates IAM (Identity and Access Management), allowing the implementation of policies for managing and controlling access to enterprise resources. It supports up to 50 VPN tunnels using protocols such as IPsec, GRE over IPsec, IKEv2, OpenVPN, WireGuard, with LAN-to-LAN and Teleworker-to-LAN VPN capabilities, as well as hardware-based encryption with AES/DES/3DES. Additionally, through EasyVPN, VPN connections for remote workers and users are automated, quick, and secure, requiring only a username and password or an OTP code sent via email. Furthermore, if a VPN connection fails for any reason, the EasyVPN Client will automatically switch to the next available protocol and attempt to reconnect.

The security features of the Vigor2928 series also include threat intelligence services such as URL Reputation and IP Reputation. Additionally, the Port Knocking feature adds extra protection by keeping ports hidden and opening them only for authorized users, ensuring access on demand. Furthermore, the Vigor2928 series models comply with the European NIS 2 directive.
