The explosive relationship between Jules, a young aristocrat, and Jean, his servant – a relationship where attraction, desire, and rivalry intertwine in a dangerous game of power – constitutes the central theme of the work. The tension between the two men is physical, psychological, and deeply political, highlighting the weight of patriarchy that has always crushed the male gender. Beside them, Christine functions as the voice of a surviving society that observes, judges, relativizes, and ultimately intervenes only to ensure its own continuation.

Transposing the action to Europe in the Interwar period and reversing the gender of the main character (from female to male), Mr. Jules approaches, with a fresh perspective, the need for dominance and survival, in a reinterpretation of the classic play Miss Julie by A. Strindberg. Tragedy is no longer attributed solely to "weakness of character" or inherent traits such as biological sex, but is revealed as a consequence of rigid social structures, roles, and expectations.

"The two men play with boundaries like a cat with a mouse, alternating roles. […] While Strindberg approaches the theme of power through Darwinian and Nietzschean elements, at Moshopoulos the body is the primary space where power inscribes itself. Will Jules be able to live with the stigma of dishonor? The ending remains open. However, Christine, more outspoken and liberated than her Strindberg namesake, maintains her belief that she will eventually attain in heaven what Jean will acquire on earth, but at the same time, she claims her earthly share," states Dió Kaggelaíri in the Introduction of the edition.
