Nephrolepis (Nephrolepis exaltata – Boston fern)
The Boston fern is one of the easiest indoor plants, but it requires proper humidity. It originates from the tropical and subtropical regions of Central and South America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Southeast Asia. In nature, it grows in shady and moist forests or on tree trunks.
- Watering & Humidity: Needs consistently moist soil (not muddy) and leaf spraying. Summer: 4–5 times a week, Winter: about once a week.
- Light: Ideal indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as the leaves can get burned.
- Temperature: Ideal temperature 18–26°C.
- Fertilization: Every 30 days with fertilizer for green plants, during spring and summer.
- Soil & Repotting: Light soil with good drainage, repot every 1–2 years.
- Maintenance: Cut dry or yellowing leaves. Dust cleaning by spraying or wiping. If it thins out, it can easily grow back.
