This treatise meets that need with the necessary thoroughness across 832 pages. It belongs to the literary genre known as Ilm al-Hâl works, which present the opinions and legal rulings of one, several, or all schools of law, without, except for a few exceptions, listing the sources of legal decisions (Hadiths, Quranic verses) or legal principles in detail.

Thus, the work is understood as a presentation of classical Islamic legal and ethical teachings, with only occasional inclusion of contemporary legal opinions (Fatâwâ). Furthermore, topics not strictly part of Ilm al-Hâl are also addressed.
