Lyrachord Deep Contour Construction & Acoustic Geometry

The Ovation CDX40P-FM-G features the proprietary Deep Contour Lyrachord body design, combining the internal air volume of a traditional deep bowl with an ergonomic back. Its curved shape conforms to the musician’s natural posture, ensuring a secure hold whether seated or standing. The Lyrachord synthetic composite material provides high structural rigidity, stability against sudden changes in humidity and temperature, and a reflective inner surface that directs sound waves straight forward for increased volume and clear frequency separation.

Multi-Soundhole Architecture & Scalloped Bracing

Unlike conventional soundhole guitars, this model features Ovation’s signature Multi-Soundhole technology, with multiple small soundholes positioned on the upper shoulders of the soundboard. This layout leaves the central area of wood between the bridge and neck intact, allowing the Selected Flamed Maple soundboard to vibrate freely. Combined with the internal Quartersawn Scalloped X-Bracing, the guitar delivers a quick response, extended sustain, and significant resistance to acoustic feedback when connected to PA systems or high-volume amplifiers.

Ovation OP-4CT Electro-Acoustic Preamp System

For electric amplification, the instrument is equipped with the Ovation OP-4CT preamp circuit paired with the Ovation Slimline Piezo pickup under the bridge. The pickup accurately detects the strings’ mechanical pressure, providing a balanced output level across all strings. The side-mounted control unit includes an input level control (Gain), a 3-band analog equalizer (Bass, Mid, Treble) for precise adjustment of the tonal content, and a built-in digital chromatic tuner with an LED display and automatic output muting for silent tuning on stage.

Nato Neck Ergonomics, Ovangkol Components & Gold Hardware

The neck is made of Nato wood with a slim profile and satin finish that helps prevent your hand from slipping. It features an Ovangkol fingerboard with a 10" (254 mm) radius, giving it a feel similar to an electric guitar. The 25.3" (643 mm) scale length, combined with a nut width of 1.69" (43 mm), ensures comfortable chord playing and fast runs. The Ovangkol bridge features a pinless design, making string changes easier. Tuning stability is maintained by gold-plated, enclosed Gold Die-Cast tuners with a precise 14:1 gear ratio.
