*Amateur=Art lover.

So, I am now an amateur singer/musician and a lover of loud sound. Due to my involvement (for many years and professionally) in music in general, I have worked with many setups. Passive-Active-Column speakers and generally with any system one can imagine, that would make a good husband eat slippers for the money he spends. The first good thing about the whole story is that I developed immunity to slippers, the second is that I have come to appreciate HiFi sound.

I won't bother (yes, now I remember) with comparisons and recommended pairings, I will clearly state about this particular Sub as a unit (or even as a pair since I have 2).

1) It is lightweight. Attention, it is lightweight, for what it does! Something more than 30 kilograms. It doesn't need wheels, etc. and it is not plastic but wood (plywood).
2) It is... Hmm, not small, but "compact". Close and relatively wide, convenient for transportation by car.
3) In a venue with 300 people, one is enough if you don't want the customers' drinks to fall off the table. I would also recommend a second one to fill the sound (depending on the satellites), but definitely at a lower volume. For satellites, I would recommend a maximum of 12'', you don't need 15'' with these subs.
4) Simple, minimalist, unnecessary DSP, either for manual adjustments or for pairing with an EV powered satellite since it has pre-set crossover settings from ZLX to TourX speakers.
5) Don't look at SPL and SPL. You don't need 134db and 1300 Watts, except in closed gatherings or alone if you want your insides to vibrate or to stop your neighbor's pacemaker in the next apartment. They perform excellently at high volumes, the first limit (which flashes) comes very easily but it simply tells you "Hey, buddy, you're starting to annoy me." They play crystal clear up to the second permanent limit without fear.
6) The quality of EV is a given, but with its latest models, it approaches HiFi sound.
7) To have a point of comparison. Next to a good passive 18'' sub with 1300 musical WATTS, it is superior. Generally, I had monstrous passive subs with beastly amplifiers, but with this pairing of an amplifier and these active speakers of this quality, the passive ones could play even louder if I pushed them, but here I have perfect, properly distributed, and ideally amplified sound.
8) OK, I said perfectly distributed sound but in closed spaces, under no circumstances should the sub be facing the microphone (it should be opposite). Even if you have it 10 meters away, it will still pick up. If you place it at least 60 degrees away from the microphone, you're good. In extreme volumes and/or small spaces, 90 degrees. Generally, though, with two of these, I have measured 100db in a venue with 800 people (It was relatively high, of course = fewer obstacles) almost from the bass throughout the entire venue and the subs were playing almost effortlessly... (99-101 from the farthest to the closest point. Where close=5m).
9) Stand mount flange=M20. You might ask now, what is that, is it edible? It is the position it has on top for a pole to be inserted to place a satellite on top. It doesn't take the "classic" ones.

P.S. Don't see it as an "Expensive" speaker. It is perfect for what it does, whether for professional use (which also means amortization) or personal use. Essentially, you get a sub/amplifier/dsp (=also entry eq).
I now permanently have one in my Home Studio ~50sqm with 4 EV ZLX12 satellites -which I no longer use outside since I have bigger ones in terms of wattage- and it is more than overkill. I need to add 4 more satellites to say that it covers the space with bass when I increase the volume, but with such volume, you can't sit in a 50 square meter space. And even if you sit, you will find yourself somewhere else because of the vibrations :-P

P.S. To avoid any misunderstandings about the references to HiFi sound, I am talking about completely LOUD volumes and always comparing them to the average PA speaker. For real HiFi, you need to spend a lot of money :-). Essentially, what I mean is that the sound quality is excellent and not like the "Boom Boom" you hear in clubs. If you want something for a home cinema in your 30-80 square meter living room, look for a good soundbar with a 6-8 inch sub, as the 18-inch won't do the job at low volumes. And when I say low volumes, I mean the level where you can talk to the person next to you. These subs, in order to perform well, need volume... That thing they say "I want the door to rattle when I close it" cannot be achieved in a small space with 18-inch subs, unless you have a 200 square meter living room. So, let's not confuse what HiFi or a good home system can do with PA speakers. PA speakers are for VOLUME.

Congratulations to the company, it produces such good machines, I have no words to describe how they perform. I have two ZLX 15p speakers and one 15db subwoofer, this particular set is permanently at home. I can say that this specific 15db subwoofer is weak for these satellites, for outdoor use you can barely hear it, and I always have to lower the satellites to hear the bass. So I decided to buy two EKX-18SP subwoofers, the result is indescribable, both in sound quality and power. (The outdoor space I mentioned earlier, I take them to the summer house, they cover 23 to 25 people for karaoke and music).

I'm waiting for the 2nd one. I had (and still have) 2 Wharfedale 1200 watt music / 2400 max and I was driving them with an EV Q1212 amplifier (2*1200watt). Very good sound but the EV, although weaker, left me speechless. Very sweet bass, deep and just right, whether for my studio or for outdoor spaces. I have paired it with 4 Yamaha DSR112 and it does an amazing job. I'm getting the 2nd one exclusively for outdoor spaces, I have an extra one in the studio!

For me there were and still are 2 categories of listeners-DJs as you like to call them..Those who are hi-fidelity and spend a lot of money to satisfy their ear, on speakers and subwoofers and amplifiers and those who always wanted a club sound, clear in the highs and mids without distorting, with the lows giving volume and hitting them hard and sweet without distortion in the chest..I am in this category and I can finally say that in combination with the zlx 15p speakers, I finally achieved the desired result after a lot of searching and testing. If you want power and sound from the lows that will make you finally smile from the lows that you were missing, this is the subwoofer you are looking for. Amazing, powerful with deep, sweet and distortion-free lows that will play whatever you put in it from rock to techno. Awesome, I highly recommend it!!! High build quality, awesome bass, amazing integration with the speakers. Enjoyment.
