  • There are lubricants and lubricants; at the top of the hierarchy is Ravenol. One of the few (very few) companies that, when they say fully synthetic, means Group IV. Not Group III (hydrogenated / hydrocracked mineral oils).
It has an exceptionally high HTHS for a 5W40 and a particularly low NOACK (for a non-racing lubricant), which makes it EXCELLENT at not burning off.
It has star-type viscosity modifiers that are extremely resistant to shear and have excellent thermal stability.
It is one of the best lubricants on the market and definitely the best I have tried.
Now I use it universally in all cars and I have not thought about looking anywhere else.
Its price is expensive; a few months ago it was at €10/l and recently it increased to ~€14/l, but even so it is worth every cent.
Among conventional (non-racing) 5W40 oils, it is in the TOP 5
