This work includes 25 studies concerning maritime law from the mid-15th century until the first quarter of the 19th century, resulting from deep historical research in sources, primarily documents, most of which are unpublished and are published in separate appendices. These studies cover almost the entire subject matter of maritime law during the Ottoman period and offer an almost complete picture of the maritime law of that era.
This is not a mere collection and simple republication of studies. The presentation is methodological. The book is divided into three parts: A. Part: Conclusions. The conclusions, together with the concise introduction in each chapter, constitute new and original elements, always based on the sources.
