The Sinotimer AFDD1-63 B16 circuit breaker is a multifunctional protection device for single-phase electrical installations. It combines arc fault detection (AFDD) with residual current, overload and short-circuit protection in a single unit.
This model has a rated current of 16A, a Type B tripping characteristic, a residual current sensitivity of 30mA and a breaking capacity of 6000A (6kA).
The AFDD function detects dangerous electrical arcs that may occur due to damaged conductors, worn insulation or faulty electrical connections, for example. These faults can generate high temperatures and increase the risk of fire.
Protection features in one device:
- AFDD arc fault protection – detects dangerous electrical arcs.
- 30mA residual current protection – detects residual currents/earth leakage.
- Overload protection – disconnects the circuit when the current exceeds the permitted limits.
- Short-circuit protection – ensures rapid tripping in the event of a short circuit.

Arc Fault Protection – AFDD
Electrical arcs can occur in installations due to issues such as:
- Loose contacts or terminals
- Damaged conductors
- Crushed or damaged cables
- Worn insulation
- Faulty electrical connections
- Ageing of cables over time
In some cases, the current generated by an electrical arc may not be sufficient to trip a conventional circuit breaker. The AFDD function is specifically designed to detect these types of faults and disconnect the circuit when a dangerous arc is detected.
Possible Applications
The B16 – 16A model can be used, depending on the installation design, for:
- Socket circuits
- Residential electrical installations
- Apartments and houses
- Cabins
- Offices
- Commercial premises
- Electrical panels
- Circuits with electrical and household appliances
- Areas where additional protection against electrical fires is important
TEST Button
The device includes a TEST button for periodically checking that the protection system is functioning correctly. Testing should be carried out according to the manufacturer's instructions, with the device switched on and correctly installed.
Important
Installation must be carried out by a qualified/authorized electrician and in compliance with electrical installation regulations. The 16A rating should not be selected solely on the basis of the load's power consumption. The protection must be correctly sized according to the conductor cross-section, circuit type, installation method and other characteristics of the installation.
