Ripjaws V series DDR4 DRAM memory is designed for sleek aesthetics and performance, making it an ideal choice for building a new PC system or for upgrading your system memory.

DDR4

DDR4 is the fourth generation of RAM (Random Access Memory) technology for computers. It replaces DDR3 and offers increased speeds and larger capacities.

Specifically, DDR4 offers operating speeds ranging from 2133 MT/s up to 4800 MT/s and CAS Latency (CL) from CL 9 up to CL 22. Its capacity has been increased up to 32 GB per memory module.

When choosing speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), higher is generally better, but it's important to ensure that our motherboard supports the selected speed and capacity. For CAS Latency (CL), lower is better.

The Ripjaws V operates at a speed of 3200 MT/s with a CL16 and 4GB of memory per module.

Compatibility

DDR4 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. For example, DDR4 is compatible with Intel Skylake, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake, and the latest Intel processors, as well as with AMD Ryzen and Threadripper processors.

However, to ensure compatibility with your motherboard, you must make sure that your motherboard supports DDR4 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and type of motherboard you are using.

XMP & EXPO

(XMP & EXPO) is a technology that allows us to boost the frequency and performance of our computer's memory without the need for manual adjustments. (XMP/ EXPO) works by storing pre-defined memory settings in the SPD (Serial Presence Detect) of the memory module. These settings can be automatically applied by the system's BIOS when XMP is enabled.

The Ripjaws V memory supports (XMP 2.0/ EXPO) technology and offers:

  • Speed (XMP/EXPO): 3200 MT/s
  • CAS Latency (XMP/EXPO): 16-18-18-38
  • Voltage (XMP/EXPO): 1.35V.



Cooling & Design

The aluminum construction, in combination with the memory's height of 42mm - an ideal size for use with big CPU coolers - helps keep the memory and the entire computer at a low temperature, even under heavy loads.

    I haven't encountered any issues, they run steadily on an ASRock B450M Pro4 system with an AMD Ryzen 5 1600. Initially, the motherboard recognized them at 2133, but with XMP I was able to get them to 3200 and they run without any instability. They are very good memory modules and I highly recommend them. The only downside is the prices, which have skyrocketed!

    Apart from the tragic prices of their memories in recent months, these memories are at least very good in proportion to their speed. I have them installed on an x370 pro prime Asus and they run at 3200 with their own profile on Ryzen, but they don't keep the oc stable. I don't know if it's my motherboard that's faulty, but now I have them stable at 3033mhz.
