Description

Suntory Distillery Hibiki is a sweet and light whisky with an amber color, produced in Japan. It matures in 5 different types of barrels, such as American white oak barrels, Sherry barrels, and Mizunara oak barrels.

Tasting Experience – Harmony in Your Glass

As soon as you bring it close, you’re greeted by delicate aromas of rose, lychee, honey, and subtle sandalwood that immediately put you in a “Japanese mood”.

On the palate, Hibiki truly plays like a symphony: honey, orange peel, and white chocolate come together with soft woody notes from Japanese Mizunara oak, creating a result that is elegant, velvety, and perfectly balanced.

The finish is clean, refined, and long-lasting, with a gentle sweetness that never tires you — it simply invites you to take another sip.

The detail that makes the difference

Hibiki Japanese Harmony is a premium blended whisky with 43% ABV, matured in a combination of American oak and Japanese Mizunara oak, creating one of the most balanced blends in the world.

  • Type: Blended Whisky
  • Country: Japan
  • Alcohol: 43%
  • Quantity: 700ml
  • Casks: American Oak & Mizunara Oak
  • Profile: Floral, honeyed, slightly woody

It is the ideal whisky if you want to enter the world of Japanese harmony — or if you simply want to have something in your collection that stands out without shouting.

The Story – Where Japanese Harmony Was Born

Hibiki is not just a whisky. It is the culmination of Suntory's philosophy, which began in 1923 when Shinjiro Torii created the first Japanese distillery in Yamazaki.

His idea was simple yet revolutionary: to create a whisky that would express Japan itself. Not an imitation of Scotland, but a new identity based on nature, seasonality, and balance.

Hibiki Japanese Harmony brings together distillates from Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita in a blend of more than 10 malt & grain whiskies, capturing the philosophy of Monozukuri — the art of creation with patience and soul.

And the iconic bottle with its 24 facets? It is no coincidence. It symbolizes the 24 seasons of the Japanese calendar and the continuous flow of time.

Nice and distinctive taste. Perfect for whiskey lovers, although I should mention that its character is not particularly unique (for this specific Hibiki), so for someone looking for something more affordable, don't feel pressured to try it, there are very decent options for less money. Otherwise, enjoy!

If you don't know that it's blended, you easily mistake it for malt. I would say it's a more sophisticated NIKKA from the barrel. Nice aromas, plenty of complexity in taste, and a pleasant aftertaste. I really like it. As for the price, I was lucky to have it brought to me from Japan much cheaper than in Greece, but it's definitely expensive compared to a similar Scottish or Irish whiskey. Personally, I like Japanese whiskey and I'm glad to have it in my collection

Together with Nikka Whisky From The Barrel, it is one of the best choices in blended malt from the country of the rising sun. Wonderful citrus aroma with notes of caramel, melted butter, and a sweet hint of smoke with a long finish. An excellent value for money from the "Japanese school" that is gaining more and more ground in the world's consciousness.

EDIT 11/2022: I reminisce about the days when you could find it for 90-95€... Its price now is prohibitive for the majority of people.

Incredibly sweet and smooth. Don't be afraid that it's not malt but a blend. It's worth its money.
