This is the first soap I bought when I started wet shaving after many attempts and several trials with soaps of the same price. I must say that even the Goodfellas soaps are class superior. As for the scent, I won't comment; it left me completely indifferent. In terms of protection, zero against slip, scoring a 5 or 6 out of 10. The only good thing I found is that it's a soap that will last excessively long due to triple milling and it's easy to lather. It has a very good post-shave feel, but the post-shave glide is absolutely ZERO. Those who have sung praises for this soap are referring to the old formula, which is night and day. This specific formula is dark and gloomy. This is my personal opinion, but after 2 years of using this shaving method and having tried many bases, I think I have a bit of experience now.

It awakens memories from my childhood, as a short-pants kid, whenever I would meet Mr. Stelios, the neighbor from the upstairs apartment, on Hippothontidou Street in Petralona, he left behind an old-fashioned fragrance. A mix of vanilla, apricot, banana, and firewood. Incredibly indescribable scent, one of those that immediately, as soon as you smell it, activates very specific neurons with memories of your childhood. After 47 years, I finally found this fragrance: the Tabac shaving soap, gentlemen. Ever since I discovered it, I shave almost daily with it and I smell like Mr. Stelios to the neighbors. The only thing missing is the characteristic "clack" from his worry beads. I discovered that if you put it in the fridge, it creates a better lather. I already have one in the fridge and three in the freezer. Highly recommended.

Soap of the few, with a timeless, incredible scent. Excellent performance that has nothing to envy from expensive artisan soaps at a quarter of their price. Even the current non tallow version of it. Especially the refill is incredibly value for money at this price, as long as you have a container or case to put it in for use.

Top product makes rich marbling, spreads easily with the brush and stands perfectly on the face, helping the falsetto to slide and cut the goatee perfectly. I highly recommend it....

IT IS NOT the old tabac with TALLOW.
It is the so-called "Vegan" (New Formula).
You will notice the difference from the ingredients listed on the packaging on the back.
The Vegan lists potassium laurate and not the main ingredient potassium tallowate that the old one has. Other ingredients are also missing (like coconut milk, etc.)
I see a photo that was uploaded by someone else, with the ingredients that list potassium tallowate.
From the date of the review, it is obvious that it is an old review, when the Old Formula was still available.
The old tabac is almost impossible to find because Tallow production has stopped.

Nevertheless, it is a good soap with a nice scent (the classic tabac scent).

P.S. I also have the Tallow. One idea is all. I get super shaves with both.

Fantastic shaving! No comparison to commercial ready-made foams. I couldn't feel the blade on me and the scent is very good and light.

Hearing so much about Tabac, I was disappointed when I opened the lovely jar and smelled it. I was expecting something amazing and instead, it smelled like a simple soap. I was so disappointed that I hesitated to use it. However, when I did, I couldn't believe how good it is, until I started to like its scent. Very good lather with a little loading (so it will last a long time), great slickness and protection, good but not outstanding post shave. I consider it a value for money and an all-time classic soap, and it's worth trying it at some point.

As a first soap for classic shaving, I got the Proraso sandalwood. Apart from the scent, I was not satisfied with its slipperiness. However, my friends, Tabac is a whole different story! I had a fantastic shave, couldn't feel the blade, and the scent is very good. Get it without hesitation!

For a very long time now, my favorite soap for short trips.
Ideal for transportation, with the familiar Tabac fragrance that comes from 4-5 decades ago.

An excellent soap that has made history in traditional shaving as it has been and perhaps still is a reference point. It is hard, triple-milled, which means it will last for many shaves. It creates a lot of lather with a little loading, capable of three passes. Excellent slickness, very good protection during shaving, and also very good post-shave protection. Its scent is retro, heavy, which may alienate those who are used to more modern fragrances. The packaging with the white porcelain bowl is a gem.

First time I use this specific soap, after all these positive comments, videos and references, I bought it and I was really satisfied. The greasiness, the density of the foam with a very small amount, the scent (which remains even after shaving) but also the packaging which stays with you and you can place the soap inside it as it is available on the market without the bowl, are reasons why I highly recommend it.

I plan to also get the aftershave of the series and the cream.

Nice scent and the soap creates a nice lather. Provides protection and a good feeling after shaving. Also, the price is very good (I bought it for 5.77) for what it offers, not like now that I saw it being sold for 23, probably due to a pricing mistake.. (for the soap refill only, without the bowl)

Very nice scent, rich foam.. The plus is the feeling it leaves on the skin after shaving..
The minus is that the razor doesn't glide as well as other soaps that have tallow (animal fat)..

What to comment on first, I don't know. The incredible masculine scent? The perfect texture of the foam? The amazing post-shave texture? That it is durable and will last you a long time? The perfect porcelain bowl? If I haven't convinced you, buy it to experience Tabac for yourself. It's worth every penny!

One of the most well-known soaps among wet shavers for its excellent quality. It has superior ability to create lather with relatively less water and more easily than other hard soaps, to have excellent glide and decent protection. The only thing that wasn't on the same level for me is its scent. I would say it has a traditional, familiar aroma to previous generations of older people and mature, in my opinion, for men aged 40+.

It lathers extremely easily with a soft brush and it is one of those products that crave water until you create the cream. In terms of performance, it has left me very satisfied, it glides nicely and my skin feels great afterwards.

The scent is definitely not fresh or refreshing in any way. I would describe it as heavy, classic but not overpowering in intensity. I can't smell it on my face after applying my aftershave. I'm not crazy about the scent, but it's not a deterrent for me to use it.

It's one of those soaps that don't run out easily because it is excessively hard, triple-milled, meaning it is dehydrated during production.

I highly recommend it without a second thought for someone looking for a value for money and efficient product. It has been in the market for so many years, so it must be doing something right!

The well-known nice fragrance. Luxurious packaging. The container is multi-purpose. You hold it and put in a soap refill. The foam is good. Not something extraordinary. A bit pricey. With cheaper products, you achieve softer skin.
