Ageliki Kontou

Angeliki Kontou completed her postgraduate studies in England at the Universities of Warwick and Essex, where she earned a Master's degree in Philosophy and Social Theory (M.A. in Philosophy and Social Theory) and a Ph.D. in Philosophy, respectively. Her master's thesis focused on the comparative analysis of the philosophical and political ideas of Adorno and Habermas, while her doctoral dissertation explored the concept of reconciliation in the works of Adorno and Hegel (Reconciliation and Modern Society: An Interpretation of the Thought of Hegel and Adorno). Her theses were supervised by Professors Gillian Rose, Peter Dews, and Jay Bernstein. She received her undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of Crete. Her professional experience primarily involves teaching and research activities. She has worked within postgraduate programs at Panteion University. She has also provided research and teaching services in undergraduate programs at the University of Essex (England), the University of Crete, the Open University of Cyprus, the Hellenic Open University, as well as at the University of Indianapolis (Athens) and New York College (Athens). Her research experience includes collaborations with the I.A.P.A.D. Institute (Panteion University, Operational Program "For Immigrants in Greece") and the film production company "Illusion"-Yiannis Kaspiris (documentary series for NET "Stories of the City. No Place"). Among other projects, she designed and developed a Postgraduate Program for the Open University of Cyprus ("European Studies with an emphasis on Philosophy, Political Theory & History"), and she has provided program evaluation services as a member of the Unified Registry of Evaluators (E.M.A.) of the Greek Ministry of Employment and Social Protection. She has participated in international conferences in England, Spain, and Greece. Her publications appear in Greek and international journals and collective volumes (Deucalion, Utopia, Axiologika, Contrastes. Revista Internacional de Filosofia, etc.). Her current book, Critical Theory and Education, takes into account methodological principles of Open and Distance Learning.
