
David McCullough
David McCullough has been described as a "master of the art of narrative history." He has won two Pulitzer Prizes, two National Book Awards, and has been honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and has received 54 honorary degrees. In 2013, his hometown of Pittsburgh honored him by naming a prominent city bridge after him.
Throughout his remarkably productive career, he has worked as an editor, educator, speaker, and narrator for television documentaries and films. He has delivered speeches across America and around the world, including at the White House.
Born in Pittsburgh in 1933, he studied at the local university and at Yale. He is an avid reader, traveler, and has a passion for art and architecture. He is married to Rosalee Barnes McCullough, and they have five children and nineteen grandchildren.
