
Gerasimos G. Zoras
Gerasimos G. Zoras was born in Athens (1959), where he studied at the School of Philosophy, earning a degree in Philology (1981) and a Ph.D. (1991). He also pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Rome (1981-1983) and later conducted postdoctoral research in the libraries of the Eternal City (1992). He has been a professor at the School of Philosophy of the University of Athens, teaching Italian and comparative literature, since 1995. He has been elected a member of numerous scholarly societies, including the Parnassos Literary Society, the Archaeological Society, the National Society of Greek Writers, the Educational Society, the Music and Drama Society of the Athens Conservatory, the P.E.N. Club, the Societe Europeenne de Culture of Venice, and the Accademia Letteraria Arcadia of Rome. He is a member of the Governing Committee of the Kostis Palamas Foundation and participates in the State Prizes Committee of the Ministry of Culture. He serves on the editorial boards of scientific journals published in Greece and Italy (Parnassos, Scientific Annals of the School of Philosophy, Lenguistica e Letteratura, Sincronie, Studi danteschi). More than one hundred of his articles have been published in reputable journals, and ten of his books have been released by Greek and Italian publishers. In 2002, the President of the Italian Republic, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, awarded him the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic as a Knight. In 2009, he was elected President of the Faculty Association of the School of Philosophy at the University of Athens.
