
Georgios I. Aylonitis
Georgios Avlonitis is a Professor of Marketing and Communication at the Athens University of Economics and Business, the director of the Marketing Laboratory of the same department, and the program director of the postgraduate course "Marketing and Communication with New Technologies" for business executives. After completing his studies at the Higher Industrial School of Piraeus, he pursued postgraduate studies in the UK, where he consecutively obtained a postgraduate diploma in Business Administration, a Master's degree in Organization and Business Administration from Aston University, and a Ph.D. from the Department of Marketing Studies at the University of Strathclyde.
From January 1981 to December 1985, he taught Marketing at the University of Strathclyde and served as a consultant for various companies. He has presented a series of papers in the USA, Canada, and Europe and has published over 150 articles in the proceedings of international conferences and in the world's most prestigious scientific marketing journals, including the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, the International Journal of Research in Marketing, the Journal of Product Innovation Management, among others.
He is a member of the Editorial Board of eleven international marketing journals, including the Journal of Business Research, Industrial Marketing Management, and the European Journal of Marketing, and has been awarded the best paper award on several occasions. He has conducted numerous research studies for the private and public sectors and has occasionally served as a consultant on Marketing Strategy and Sales Organization for many Greek and multinational companies. He has served as the President of the Department of Marketing and Communication at the Athens University of Economics and Business (1997-2000), Chairman of the Board of ECR Hellas (1995-1998), and Vice President of the European Marketing Academy (1990-1993). He is an elected Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the UK and one of the founders of the Hellenic Academy.
