Dimitrios S. Kalomoiris

Dimitrios Kalomoiris was born in Athens, where he completed his general education. He graduated with honors from the Higher Ecclesiastical Academy of Athens and continued his postgraduate studies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the Department of Pastoral Theology, earning a Master's degree in Church History with distinction. He is also a graduate of the Hellenic Conservatory of Athens, holding a degree and diploma in Byzantine Ecclesiastical Music with honors. Since 1989, he has been teaching at the Municipal Conservatory of Acharnes and, as a lead chanter and music instructor, he has formed a large Byzantine choir with significant activity both within and outside Greece. Notable performances include events in Milan for the 1700th anniversary of the signing of the Edict of Milan in the presence of the Ecumenical Patriarch, a concert at the historic Church of St. George in Venice for the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Holy Metropolis of Italy, a traditional music concert in Milan, and concerts at the Athens Concert Hall. For seventeen consecutive years, he served as the lead chanter at the Church of St. Vlasios in Acharnes, and since 2000, he has been the lead chanter at the Holy Metropolitan Church of St. Demetrios in Kifisia. He is the director of the Byzantine Music School of the Holy Metropolis of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki and the Byzantine Music School of the Holy Metropolis of Hydra, Spetses, and Aegina. He is currently the head of the Directorate of the Municipality of Acharnes. He has an extensive musical writing portfolio as well as collections of recordings.
