Maria Paouel

Maria Powell was born in Athens. She studied History at the School of Philosophy of the University of Athens and Film in London. She got married in England, where she lived for several years. She works in Athens as a screenwriter and film producer. Her first book, titled "Blood Ties," was published in 2003 by Kedros Publishers and was adapted into a film by Nikos Panagiotopoulos in 2011. She was awarded the "Heracles Papalexis" Debut Fiction Writer Award by the magazine "Diavazo" for this work. In 2005, her book "The Most Dramatic Story" was published by Kedros Publishers, and in 2013, her book "Acid Rain" was released by the same publisher. "Acid Rain" was shortlisted for the State Literary Awards, the Athens Prize for Literature by the magazine "(de)kata," and the literary magazine "o Anagnostis" awards.
