
Ioannis K. Mpougas
Born in 1945 in Gargalianoi, Messinia, where he completed his secondary education. He served his military duty as a reserve officer. He obtained a degree in Mathematics from the University of Patras. He pursued postgraduate studies in Canada at Concordia University (Montreal, Quebec) and Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario), specializing in Statistics with a focus on methods for measuring and improving Quality and Productivity.
He is a lecturer in Statistics at Concordia University in Montreal and has previously taught at McGill University in Montreal and Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada. He worked at Bell Canada, retiring in 2005 from the position of Director of Statistical Studies.
Since then, Dr. Bougas has been engaged in the study of History and the analysis of current events. He frequently writes for newspapers and magazines in Greece and abroad and speaks on radio and television. Since August 2007, he has hosted a weekly television program on the Canadian Hour of Antennasatellite, which broadcasts Antenna's television program in Canada. In his program, he comments on economic, political, and historical issues from the Greek, Canadian, and global scenes.
In 2006, his first book, "The Voice of Peace," was published by Herodios Publications. It is a testimony of the Child Gathering implemented in 1948 by the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) for Greek children from border areas, and a vivid description of the captivity of villagers from Western Macedonia and Epirus, as well as their life and treatment in the People's Democracies by the exiled leadership of the KKE.
In 2009, his second historical work was published, titled "Bloody Memories 1940-45," with the subtitle "Red Terror, Occupation Civil War, Red Liberation, White Terror in Southwestern Peloponnese (Gargalianoi - Kalamata - Meligalas - Pylos - Pyrgos)," based on extensive bibliography, but primarily on eyewitness accounts and other primary material.
