Tom Robbins

Thomas Eugene Robbins was born in Blowing Rock, USA, in 1936. After attending various colleges, he worked as a proofreader for newspapers such as "The Richmond Times-Dispatch," "The Seattle Times" (where he also contributed as an art critic), and "Seattle Post-Intelligencer." His novels are characterized by a post-beat, inventive style filled with humor, which is particularly popular among young readers: "Another Roadside Attraction," 1971, "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues," 1976 (perhaps his most famous book), "Still Life with Woodpecker," 1980, "Jitterbug Perfume," 1984, "Skinny Legs and All," 1990, "Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas," 1994, "Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates," 2000, and "Villa Incognito," 2003. Additionally, a volume of his shorter travel writings, essays, satirical portraits, reviews, and poems (published in "Esquire," "Playboy," "New York Times," and others) has been released under the title "Wild Ducks Flying Backward," 2005.
