Easy & quick tips to clean your washing machine!
It may seem excessive, but even the washing machine needs care and regular cleaning. Cleaning a washing machine is a very simple process.
If you feel that your clothes don't smell like lavender as they should, it might not be the detergent's fault. Over time, lint and dirt from clothes accumulate on the walls of the washing machine. If they stay inside your washing machine for a long time, they start to smell bad.
Another reason for this smell is the soap scum that gets trapped in the door gasket. Thus, mold develops day by day, and the clothes probably smell worse when they come out than when they go into the washing machine.
The washing machine is one of the household appliances that we use almost on a daily basis. The washing machine needs cleaning and the truth is that its cleaning is often neglected.
Dedicate 10 minutes and follow the steps below.
1. Clean the washing machine drum
If you want to clean and disinfect your washing machine drum, you can take advantage of the disinfecting power of bleach.
First, make sure the drum is empty and there are no clothes inside. Then add a capful of bleach to the detergent compartment of the washing machine and select a high-temperature program. Once completed, you will have a washing machine with a sparkling clean drum.
You don't need special cleaners or tools to make your washing machine shine. Natural materials that you surely have in your kitchen will help you achieve the same result.
In a bowl, mix water with baking soda. Put the mixture in the container where you would normally put the washing machine detergent and then pour in the white vinegar. Close the washing machine door and after selecting a very high-temperature program, start the machine.
If you don't want to use natural cleaners, you can use a simple laundry detergent to follow the same process. Put the detergent in the washing machine compartment and after selecting the same program, start it with an empty drum.
2. Clean the washing machine's rubber seals
The rubber seals are probably the dirtiest part of the washing machine. The first step you need to take is to check if they are damaged or if there is mold inside them.
Next, in a basin, mix hot water and a cup of liquid bleach with chlorine. Dip a cotton cloth into the mixture and gently rub the rubber seal. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes and then clean the rubber seal with a soft towel.
3. Clean the washing machine compartments
Another area that definitely needs cleaning is the washing compartments or otherwise the drawer of the washing machine. Remove it and place it in a basin with hot water.
After soaking, spray it with a simple multi-purpose cleaning spray. Good alternatives here are baking soda with vinegar or bleach. Scrub the drawer well to remove all detergent stains, limescale, and mold. Before putting it back, wipe it well with a towel.
