How to Achieve Professional Book and Notebook Covering at Home?

Get everything you need to "dress" your books and notebooks professionally for school, college, or tutoring!

As the back-to-school season approaches, one of the things you need to be prepared for is covering books and notebooks. Especially for you who love organization and order and want everything clean and tidy. Let's see what you will need, whether you are a parent looking for the essentials for your children's books and notebooks, a student, or you want to achieve a professional "covering" of books and notebooks for any use.

First things first

Do you want to "cover" the school books and notebooks for the new year early on? Or maybe some literary book you love very much and want to protect? Start by getting the essentials:

"Dress" them appropriately

Once you have gathered all the books and notebooks you want to cover, you should calculate how many meters of adhesive roll or laminating film you will need. For a large book or notebook, A4 size, you will need a cover length of about half a meter, while for a smaller one 40 centimetersIndicatively, a book with A4 pages is about 22 centimeters wide on each side, depending also on its thickness, which can range from 2 to 3 centimeters, meaning that you will need about 50-53 centimeters of adhesive or film. Don't forget that you should leave about 3 centimeters on each side so that you can fold it inside the book or notebook.

You can find adhesive sheets or rolls for "covering" books, which you can use to "cover" many books and notebooks of different sizes, cutting and adjusting each one separately. If you want something very simple and practical, you can choose book and notebook covers in whatever size you want, and simply place them on.

How will you achieve the perfect "covering"?

So, if you choose adhesive film, follow the steps below to achieve the perfect result:

  1. Prepare your space: Clear and clean the desk, table, or a large surface where you can work comfortably.
  2. Place the book on the adhesive film, before peeling it off, and mark with pencil the 4 corners of the covers and the inner corners near the spine of the book. Don’t forget to leave 2-3 centimeters so you can fold the adhesive film from the inside of the covers!
  3. Cut the roll to the dimensions you want with the help of a pair of scissors or a utility knife, or choose the appropriate sheet for the dimensions you want to cover. You can also cut diagonally 4 small triangles where you marked the outer corners, so that you do not need to stick the adhesive film onto itself, as well as one parallelogram from the 2 ends of the book’s spine.
  4. Then, place the adhesive film on the work surface and remove half of the protective backing from right to left, up to the point where the book’s spine will touch.
  5. Using the characteristic squares, place the book’s spine at the point where you have cut the parallelograms and tilt it slowly toward the adhesive film. Use a hard ruler to gently press the adhesive film onto the cover and prevent lines from forming.
  6. Open the book or notebook to the last page, fold the side large excess side of the adhesive film inward. Then repeat with the two smaller sides - top and bottom.
  7. Remove the remaining backing and continue with the front side of the book as above.

Do you want to protect your photocopies too?

For photocopies, notes or other important documents that you want to preserve, you can use laminating film in a roll, and "cover" them as well with the help of a laminator. You can cut and adjust the film for each one individually. Also, you can choose laminating pouches in any size you want, from A2 to B4.

Label them...

For the perfect and complete result, you can add notebook labels and write which subject each one is intended for. Or print your own labels with the help of a label maker.

Good "dressing" and a good school year!
