MacBook Air M4: Everything We Know So Far!
What the new model will bring, when it will be released, and how much it will cost!
The market for laptops is refreshed very regularly, and Apple continues to “refresh” its lineup quite often. The MacBook Air is a category of its own, since it promises portability, convenience, and also the ability to work for those who need it. Apple fans are eagerly awaiting the newest model, which will be the MacBook Air M4. But what do we know about it so far?
The latest models were released about a year ago (in March 2024), and the new ones are expected to be announced and appear around a similar period. Bloomberg’s well-known analyst Mark Gurman notes that the MacBook Air M4 will be released within the first quarter of this year, so we may be looking at a similar case again this year.
Reports so far speak of a design that will strongly resemble the current one and that there will be two models, currently known by the code names J713 and J714. In terms of design, we will have something closer to the 2021 MacBook Pro, and in terms of performance the biggest change will clearly be Apple’s own M4 Chip, which we have seen in both the newer iPad Pro and the newer MacBook Pro.
As for memory, we expect at least a setup with 16GB RAM, a step Apple also took with the current models. Reports also mention a new 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View support, offering more options for conversations and professional meetings for those who choose them. Because of the M4, we certainly expect many new artificial intelligence features (Apple Intelligence) that will translate into assistance in all the tasks of our daily lives.
Due to the limited space in the chassis, Apple will also need to make the appropriate adjustments to the assembly so that the new MacBook Air M4 does not overheat after long hours of use, so the first reviews will give us a more detailed picture. The MacBook Air lineup is also known for the long battery life it offers on a single charge. The most recent MacBook Pro with M4 manages to exceed 18 hours of use, so it is estimated that on the thinner and more “non-professional” models, performance will reach 15 hours.
Finally, regarding ports, the new MacBook Air M4 is expected to have 3 Thunderbolt 4 ports and support for video output to up to two displays, while on pricing Apple is expected to move slightly higher this year than the previous lineup.
