With this slogan that follows the new release of our favorite hero, Insomniac introduces us to a new adventure in which the two now friendly Spider-Men of the neighborhood collaborate and fight to protect New York and their loved ones from the new, stronger enemies that appear.

Spider-Man 2 storyline

The story takes place 10 months after the events of "Spider-Man: Miles Morales". This sequel reunites Peter Parker and Miles Morales, who have grown up and are facing real-life problems on their own. Both of them struggle to maintain balance in every aspect of their daily lives.

However, things will get worse for the two superheroes quite quickly. First, we have the return of Harry Osborn, having been cured of a mysterious illness, which was hinted at in the post-credit scenes of the last two games, suggesting it was related to the black symbiote that later attaches to Peter as we have seen from the majority of the trailers. And somewhere there, iconic main villains of the Marvel universe make their appearance. From Kraven the Hunter, Dr. Kurt Connors (also known as The Lizard) to the monstrous Venom.

For the loyal fans of the web-slinger and for the development of this particular story, it is important to note Insomniac's statement at the Summer Game Fest event that, unlike the comics, Eddie Brock is not Venom, promising a mysterious twist for the fans. In fact, the trailers and scenes from previous titles strongly suggested that Harry could be the new incarnation, given the ominous statement of intent made by both him and Venom in the trailer - which is to "heal the world".

Spider-Man 2 gameplay

The gameplay of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is based on the evolution of the previous games, with some new additions and improvements. While roaming the city remains impressive, the main change is the ability to switch between the Spider-Men of Peter Parker and Miles Morales at will. Players can complete side quests and experience the stories of both, switching between them with the press of a button and an immediate transition from fade to black, regardless of where either of them is in the game world. 

The combat functions similarly to the previous games but is slightly more intense, with Peter being able to activate a Symbiote Surge that allows him to shoot enemies in a brutal manner. Miles also evolves, tuning into explosive bioelectric powers for an extra dose of damage. Both will have respective skill trees for upgrading their abilities through tech gadgets and collected points, in addition to a shared one that enhances both simultaneously. While most missions can be completed by either Spider-Man - indicated by the tiny face icons on the phone screen - some are intended for a "specific hero".
