Use the table below to find the appropriate size of anti-thromboembolic stocking for your leg. Measure at the points shown in the table and match the values to select the appropriate size. The largest measurement takes precedence. Example: if you measure Medium at the knee, Medium at the ankle but Large at the thigh, then you should take the stocking size Large.

Class I stockings and varicose veins

Varicose veins are caused by twisted and enlarged veins close to the surface of the skin. It is a condition that most commonly appears in the legs and ankles. Usually, it is not serious, but sometimes it can lead to other problems. Normally, the valves in your veins ensure good blood flow from your legs to your heart. When these valves do not function properly, blood pools in your legs and pressure builds up.

Symptoms of varicose veins:

  • A burning sensation in the legs combined with pain and fatigue. Symptoms may be more intense after prolonged standing.
  • Swelling in the legs and ankles.
  • Itching above the vein.

Varicose veins from varicosis are common and usually not a sign of a serious problem. However, in some cases, varicosis may be a sign of venous thrombosis.

Ways to manage varicose veins:

  • Wear compression stockings.
  • When sitting, support your legs in an elevated position.
  • Avoid long periods of standing and try to walk at regular intervals even for 1-2 minutes.
  • Exercise regularly.
