Description

Description

This book presents a comprehensive analysis of Greek foreign policy and security policy, from the country's entry into NATO until the imposition of the junta of colonels.

It also contains extensive references to internal issues that influenced the formation of Greek policy during the Cold War.

The study is divided into three parts (1952-55, 1955-63, and 1963-67), each corresponding to a phase of Greek policy during the Cold War. In each part, Greek strategies in the East-West conflict are analyzed; the perception of threat; defense policy and security-related economic issues; relations with the USA, NATO, and the Eastern bloc; and Greece's regional policy, primarily its stance towards Turkey and Yugoslavia, as well as the influence of successive Cypriot crises on the evolution of the country's foreign relations.
