This book was written to meet the needs of the Plant Physiology course taught at the universities and technical institutes of our country with the following main objectives: to include all the necessary information and new data in the relevant field of knowledge, while being concise and understandable.
The subject of the book concerns the basic functions of plants (respiration, photosynthesis, transpiration, respiration, substance transport), the coordination of functions among themselves and with the external environment, and the interactions of plants with the abiotic and biotic environment.
The book is framed with an introductory chapter that emphasizes the importance of the evolution of plant functions in shaping the planet's environment and a final chapter in which students are asked, based on the knowledge they have acquired, to answer the question of whether plants possess intelligence.
Each chapter includes sections that develop the basic knowledge in the form of questions and answers, sections with application topics, and descriptions of the terms included in the text. Finally, the appendix of the book presents images of the most significant nutrient deficiency symptoms.
