I bought it on January 7, 2020 for around €55.
Leatherman is an American multitool company similar to the Swiss Victorinox. The Leatherman Rev is the first multitool I have purchased from Leatherman. The Rev was the most affordable option at the nearest store compared to other models. I bought it to satisfy my curiosity about Leatherman products, as I saw that the company has loyal fans for its tools, and I wanted to see it in action. But also to have it.
We have the first impressions about the Rev:
- Sturdy all-metal construction, not too heavy.
- The blade is very sharp and pointed, and well sharpened, I can say slightly sharper than the Victorinox, and it opens and locks with one hand. The blade steel is 420HC (high carbon steel), which means it is harder, sharper, and holds its edge better compared to knives with other steels. It is also easy to sharpen. The 420HC is a positive point.
- The fairly large pliers are one of its strong advantages.
- It has a sharpened hook for easy unboxing without using the knife.
- It has a small file for wood and iron, and from the touch, I can tell it is of high quality. It also has a 1.5-inch ruler with a head that can be a small straight screwdriver.
- It has a bottle opener, can opener, and cutter in one.
- It has a large flat blade, probably a screwdriver.
- And a flathead screwdriver that I don't want to use with too much force to avoid breaking it (as I have seen in tests on YouTube).
- Due to the pliers and its quality, it can accompany the Swiss Victorinox multitools that I have.
- It has a 25-year warranty, and the company's motto is that if it breaks for any reason, they will fix it, but you will be charged for shipping costs.
- Although Greek legislation is strict and peculiar about everything, of course, with this sharp locking blade, there could be an issue, so it is better to have it on you somewhere where it could be used as a tool, for example, as a tool in a toolbox with other tools, on a countryside trip, and you can say that it is a multitool to justify why you have it on you during a police check.

The negatives are that it does not have the spring in the pliers that even €10 multitools have, the wire cutters of the pliers do not cut 3x1mm2 cables and 0.75mm2 bipolar cables that a €20 Chinese multitool I have cuts, but in the Rev, they get stuck and jam. Also, the handle does not suit me, it is thin on one side and thick on the other. It does not have a case, although it is mentioned, the small ruler could have numbering, the tools do not lock except for the blade, the belt clip was annoying because one part of the multitool is thick and has the clip, and the other part is thin, so I removed it.

Also, in the expensive models Surge and Wave Plus, material flaws have been identified, such as the pliers breaking, etc. The old models of Leatherman may have been durable, but it seems that only Victorinox has remained if you want tools for a lifetime.

Update 2024: It gives me the impression, without having worked with it intensively, that it will rust, but it has not rusted yet, it just needs intensive cleaning because these metals absorb stains and it looks like rust. Expensive for what it offers, better to get the Ingco Industrial 13E multitool and the Tac Maven Gunnar with around 30E, much better value for their money compared to this 55E one, since you only pay for the name and slightly better quality compared to the Chinese ones.
