Description

The Beyerdynamic DT 240 Professional headphones are an excellent choice considering their cost. The new Beyerdynamic DT-240 PRO headphones have a lightweight design and fit comfortably over the ears, providing great isolation and mostly "flat" sound signature. The bass on the DT 240 Pro is impressive!


It has great clarity while generally low frequencies are not degraded, they still have a nice openness that both professionals and Hi-Fi enthusiasts will enjoy. The low-mids also have a large space. This gives a satisfying sense in the mid-range that provides plenty of room for guitars, strings, and vocals.

The high levels are similar to the low levels, as they are not excessive. This allows "rolls" and drum kits to sit in a more precise position in the stereo field. Reverbs and room microphones are exposed in a charming and pleasant way.

    For about €65, they are great. Here is a detailed description of the pros and cons, as well as their usage.

    Taking the price into consideration, the pros are:
    + good sound quality
    + frequencies that shouldn't be amplified aren't
    + good build quality
    + lightweight
    + they don't become uncomfortable after hours of use, even with glasses
    + the coiled cable is convenient and doesn't get in the way
    + it's easy to tell when the sound clips

    The cons are:
    - relatively poor external noise isolation
    - the earpads are not exactly over-ear, more like on-ear
    - although they have good build quality, their appearance doesn't give off a studio vibe

    In summary:
    + If you want simple headphones for home or small studio use, where there isn't much noise and you don't want a lot of bass but rather clear sound, then these headphones are for you.
    - If you want to listen to a lot of bass, are in a noisy environment, or want to show off to your friends, I recommend going for something else.

    I am writing this review mainly about the comfort issue, which opinions generally differ on the internet. As for the construction and sound, they are quite good (I am not a musician, I think you will easily find information about the sound in many videos and non-reviews).

    The size of the earpad, as many say they are small, almost on-ear, others say they are fine, etc., is 5 centimeters in diameter for the ear opening and 8 centimeters in total diameter of the earpad. Personally, I find it fine - it doesn't fit my entire ear inside, but I don't feel it because the cushions are soft enough.

    The other thing mentioned about comfort is how tight they are. When I took them out of the box, it was true, they were pressing my head too much. I "wore" them in a box overnight to loosen them up, and the next day they were fine for me.

    The earpads are removable.

    I have had them for almost two years and I am very satisfied. Very clean sound. I use them constantly. I should note that I wear glasses and they are one of the few good headphones that do not bother me at all.

    I expected more for the 95 euros I paid, when btw the price had already dropped to 85 (...and now I see them at 75). As for build quality, they are worth both 85 and 95, maybe even more. However, the sound quality is very "typical"... OK when I use them for DJing, but rather "boring" for music listening. Their positive (besides reliability) is the size and weight (light and portable), but it is offset by the discomfort. They are about as uncomfortable - and "pressing" - on the ears as the ATH50 (Audio Technica). Max 45' of continuous listening (and that's after weeks of stretching on the stand). I should have bought the 32-ohm DT770 (my bad knowledge...)
